Owen, Kathleen (USA)

Ms. Owen, an ASHRAE Fellow and Distinguished Lecturer, is an expert in air cleaner efficiency/effectiveness testing and test method development through Owen Air Filtration Consulting. She recently completed ASHRAE projects conducting interlaboratory studies (Round Robins) on ASHRAE 52.2 and 145.2 for particle and gas-phase air cleaner efficiencies, as well as an ASHRAE project evaluating reactive air cleaners. Over a 33-year career at RTI, she led the air cleaner test laboratory for 20 years and contributed to ASHRAE and U.S. EPA programs that developed key air cleaner test methods, including ASHRAE 52.2 (particles), 145.2 (gases), and 185.1 (UV bioaerosol). She also developed chamber-based test methods for gases and bioaerosols, drawing in large part on the AHAM CADR approach, and supported numerous ASHRAE/EPA projects on air cleaning and indoor air quality. She is currently Chair of ASHRAE SPC 185.5, and is past Chair of ASHRAE SSPC 52.2 and SSPC 145.2. She also serves on multiple ASHRAE committees/TCs and the U.S. TAG to ISO/TC 142.
