POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
1 OBJECTIVES
1.1 To raise the professional standards of those involved in the air/liquid filtration & separation industry.
1.2 To provide continuing education for those involved in the air/liquid filtration & separation industry.
1.3 To award special recognition to individuals who have demonstrated a high level of proficiency in filtration & separation.
1.4 To provide the public and end-users with a list of qualified air/liquid filtration & separation specialists.
1.5 To enhance the value of membership in WFI by increasing the marketability of its members.
2 ELIGIBILITY
2.1 An applicant is defined as any individual who applies to take the training courses and the specialist exam.

3 REQUIREMENTS FOR CERTIFICATION
3.1 All applicants must submit a completed application for certification at least 30 days in advance of the examination date.
3.2 All applicants must complete the required training courses and pass the specialist exam.
3.3 All applicants must agree in writing to conduct their business in accordance with the WFI Code of Ethics.

4 EXAMINATION PROCEDURES
4.1 Examinations will be based on the materials contained in the specialist training courses.
4.2 Examinations will be administered by designated WFI officials once per year online as a standalone exam.
4.3 The applicant must receive a passing grade of 75% or higher on the Specialist Examination. Results will be reported as pass or fail only; numeric scores will not be released.
4.4 If the applicant fails the examination, he or she shall be promptly notified and given the opportunity to re-take the exam.

5 FEES
5.1 Testing fees are included in the specialist registration fee.
5.2 If the applicant fails the exam, a re-take will be offered free of charge.
6 USE OF THE SPECIALIST DESIGNATION
​6.1 A Certified Filtration & Separation Specialist (CFSS) tiitle may use the designation on letterhead, business cards, and other forms of professional communication and promotion.
7 CERTIFICATION OF COMPETENCY
7.1 A certificate shall be issued in the name of the individual represented by the CFSS upon successful completion of the specialist examination.
7.2 Any alteration or misrepresentation of the certificate will result in disciplinary action by the WFI Board of Directors.

8 TRANSFER OF CERTIFICATION
8.1 The specialist certificate is not transferable.
