This presentation will provide insight into Water Bankruptcy could be mitigated by the

current Membrane Revolution. Membrane development activity has expanded

significantly in the last 5 years to create membranes that typically provide longer service

life, less cleaning, low fouling potential. This is a big step in the right direction as we

have been using the same membranes now for more that 30 years. The issue with

membranes solving in part Water Bankruptcy is to lower the cost of ownership to make

water recovery and reuse an economically sound investment. Longer service life is a

good start but it may not be enough. I will provide some possible ways to change the

economic paradigm and make water recycle and reuse a viable solution.
